The battle to escape relegation is at it boiling point as the Glo Premier League enters 27th week this Wednesday except the match between Mighty Jets and New Edubiase which will be played on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
At the Golden City Park, Berekum Arsenals will square it off with Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs in a nerve racking encounter. Arsenal is breathing hot and loud at the fourteenth position on the log with 26 points whiles Dwarfs on the other hand is just a little beyond the relegation zone with 32 points and tenth on the table.
The home side stand accuse as even a split of points could affect their dream of escaping relegation and need to do everything humanly possible to grab all the three points at stake from the visitors who are also aware of what their stand on the table will be if they should lose.
Second from bottom Bechem united will welcome Wa All Stars to the Bechem Park. All Stars were very impressive in the first round but their performance in the second round is quite questionable as far as consistency is concern.
The home side is fifteenth on the log with just 23 points whiles All Stars is ninth with 38 points. Bechem needs at least tree wins out of their last four games to escape the relegation boat and a drop against All Stars means the end of the road for the Bechem lads.
At the Accra Sports Stadium Glorious Hearts of Oak will play as host to relegation bound Wassaman united in a make or break affair. Coach C.K Akunnor’s realm of affairs at Hearts of Oak could come to an abrupt halt if the phobians should lose to struggling Wassaman united.
Hearts is third on the table with 40 points whiles Wassaman is already smiling to cash their money at the division one bank as no miracle can save them from missing the relegation boat but the ‘gospel according to football’ chapter 1 should teach the phobians that, he who is down needs no fall.
At the Tema Community 3 Park, scientific soccer lads Liberty Professionals will play as guest to Tema Youth in a grueling encounter. Tema Youth is eleventh on the table with 29 points whiles Liberty on the other hand is eighth with 39 points.
Liberty have won the bragging rights for Greater Accra this season as they have dealt with all the Greater Accra clubs including the former continental club masters Accra Hearts of Oak but Tema Youth looks certain to stop them in the Harbour City.
Mighty Jets will be seeking to keep their hopes alive on Thursday when they come face-to-face with the vintage New Edubiase united at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Mighty Jets is thirteenth on the table with 26 points whiles New Edubiase is seventh with 39 points. Mighty Jets will have their selves to blame if they should lose this match to Edubiase who are only seeking to be in the top four at the end of the season. Mighty Jets can run away with a narrow win but not without policing the Bekwai goal wizard Emmanuel Baffoe who leads the goal king race with 22 goals.
At the Kpando Park, Hearts of Lions will battle it out with winners Kumasi Asante Kotoko who will only be playing for proud. Coach Maxwell Konadu and his red army will visit the Volta region without any pressure on them for the first time since Lions joined the elite division over a decade ago since Lions have nothing positive on paper to scare them.
Whereas the Porcupine Warriors is at the summit of the table with a maximum 56 points, Hearts of Lions who are experiencing their worse season is twelfth with just 28 points.
If Coach Maxwell Konadu should descend the Volta region with his full house then Lions could have it tough to handle as some clubs have already chalked victories from the Kpando Park which used to be a fortress to most clubs in seasons past.
African Champions League campaigners Berekum Chelsea will travel to the Western region to play as guest to Medeama Sporting Club at the Tarkwa T&A Park.
The home side is fifth on the log with 39 points the same as the visitors who have one match in hand. Both clubs have the men to do the job for them and the connoisseurs of the local league will be looking out for nothing but an entertaining game from these two clubs.
The match of the day comes off at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium between the soccer miners Ashantigold fc and Aduana Stars. Ashantigold is second on the table with 41 points whiles Aduana Stars on the other hand is fourth with 40 points.
