One news that dominated the media landscape prior to the start of the 2015/2016 Ghana League season was the capturing of the Fusseini Nuhu and Alhasan Nuhu known in the football circles as “Nuhu brothers” by then league champions Ashgold.

Following their mouthwatering display for formerclub Edubease, the Nuhu brothers were the most sought after players in the Ghanaian transfer season and one still wonders why neither of them joined Kotoko or Hearts

The decision to join Obuasi based Ashgold came as a surprise to many but with the lure of playing in the CAF champions’ league, a move to Ashgold seemed perfect.

However, the marriage between the Nuhu brothers and the former league champions did not last long. Last week the club released the two players following their poor showing last season.

The decision to release Fusseini and Alhasan Nuhu has drawn a myriad of criticism from the public but under fire Ashgold boss Bashir Hayford has come out to give reasons behind the team’s decision

“The decision to part way with them was purely based on performance. At a point in the season when I realized their abysmal display, I called them and spoke to them.

Their total performance was very low. We have softwares that analyse the output of players and their performance was shockingly awful. Fusseini who is the striker had 48% whiles Alhasan had 46% in terms of performance. They were part of the players that participated in Africa and they failed to live up to expectations”. Bashir Hayford opened up on his decision to let go the players speaking on Kumasi based Angel FM.

He also admonished the lads to take it in good fate and work on their talent.

Bashir Hayford told them stop peddling falsehood that he dislikes them. Whiles he agreed that the issue of money could be a factor, he opposed the view that their inability to live up to their hype was purely based on monetary issues and dislike by some Ashgold officials.

After just a season, one would have thought that more opportunities would be given to the lads to show their worth but in the wisdom of the technical team of Ashgold, letting them go is the perfect option.
