Barnes Tips Ghana To Win 2014 World Cup

John Barnes has boldly chosen Ghana to be the first African country to win a senior world cup in 2014.

According to the Liverpool legend, the Black Stars were the most organized African side at the last mundial in South Africa and would annex the next tournament in Brazil if the same approach is implored.

“African teams have already proven they can match up to the talent, skill, technique and speed as any other country in the world but lacks the mentality, organization and discipline needed to become world champions,” Barnes told the Press upon arrival in Ghana.

“Ghana however showed this in South Africa. They were the most organized African side and had a very good approach to the tournament. “It is however not surprising they did that well at the world cup and would win it in 2014 if these traits are maintained.”

The 47-year-old is in the country to help raise funds for the benefit of retired Ghana players.

He will also be joining ex Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah on a three-day coaching clinic and will be honoured with a chieftaincy title in the Brong Ahafo Region.
