Badu misses world title bout

..on dodgy record suspicion
It was a rare opportunity to have a go at the WBC bantamweight title last Friday night. But, Ghana's Sumaila Badu was humiliatingly withdrawn from the fight by the WBC because of, what was described as, his suspect record.

Vusi Malinga therefore had no problem in retaining his WBC International bantamweight belt when he was awarded a 12 round hometown draw against Jerope Mercado of the Philippines at the Nasrec Indoor Arena in Johannesburg on Friday night.
