Badu ‘focusing’ on 2017 Afcon

Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says he’s shifting attention from club football to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off next month in Gabon.

His Italian Serie A side were initially caught up in a relegation battle this term but have been able to bounce back, going four games without a defeat and are now on 10th spot.

The former Asante Kotoko star is hoping to put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians during the continental tournament in Gabon.

“We had a good race and got a great result [this year]. In 2017, I'm sure we will have a great year," Badu told his club's website.

“Now, I'm focused on Ghana. I will go to the Africa Cup of Nations and I want to give a lot of joy to my country by winning the title.

“When I come back I hope to find the team even higher. I want to wish all Udinese fans a happy new year," he added.

Ghana coach Avram Grant is expected to release his provisional squad for the tournament before they begin preparations in Accra on December 27.

The team will travel to Dubai on January 3 to fine tune for 10 additional days before leaving for Gabon.
