Badminton president congratulates team for winning seven medals in Ivory Coast

Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) President, Yeboah Evans has congratulated Team Ghana for winning 7 medals at the just ended Ivory Coast Junior International and emphasized the developmental and high performance agenda of the new Board in the lead up to discovering talents and placing Badminton on a high pedestal.

National team players were selected for the Ivory Coast tournament based on their previous points aggregate accumulated at the last national badminton championships last year and athletes with good moral and outstanding performance character.

Mr. Yeboah also reiterated the Sport as the second most viewed in the world and reiterated corporate sponsorship opportunities for all companies partnering with Badminton Ghana to promote their global brand through Sports, as a welcome endeavor for their marketing and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

In their first major competition under the new BAG administration, the national U-19 badminton team kicked off Ghana’s hunt for points to qualify for the 2018 Commonwealth Games Mixed Team event and the Youth Olympics by winning 7 medals-made of 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals-at the Ivory Coast Junior International 2017 in Abidjan last Sunday.

Top seed Abraham Ayittey crowned a successful campaign, edging Egypt’s Mohammed Kamel 21-17, 21-17 to win gold in the men’s singles final.

In the all Ghana men’s doubles final, Daniel Doe and Ebenezer Andrews fought back from a game down to defeat the other Ghanaian duo of Abraham Ayittey and Emmanuel Botwe 2:1.

The pair of Grace Atipaka and Eyram Yaa Migbodzi settled for silver after they were beaten by Algeria’s HallaBouksani and Linda Mazri in the women’s doubles final.
