Bad Roads Affecting Farm Produce- Abakumahene

Abakumahene of Begoro Traditional council, Nana Baffour Owusu Ampomah has pleaded with President Mahama and the NDC government to help construct roads within the area to enable farmers transport their foodstuffs to market centres. According to him, eventhough Begoro is noted for food production in the country, they are also faced with poor road network which makes it difficult for vehicles to go to remote areas to convey foodstuffs to other areas for sale.
Nana Bafour Owusu Ampomah said this at a mini durbar as part of this year's Odwira(Ahwie) festival and 30th anniversary of Begorohene, Daasebre Awuah Kotoko ll.
He expressed worry at that most cocoa farmers in the area also find it difficult to access pesticides and other insecticides to spray their farms and therefore called on government to expand the cocoa spraying exercise to cover all farmers.
"We are noted for production of food crops and cocoa but the poor road network in the area is bad to even transport goods to market centres after harvesting" he added.
He however appealed to the Electoral Commission to look into requests by some cross section of Ghanaians for a new voters register in order to enable the country have a successful elections in the future.
