Baba Rahman provides assist for Augsburg in win over Hamburg

Ghana international defender Baba Abdul Rahman was at the thick of affairs for Augsburg as he set up a goal in their fight-from-behind 3-1 win over Hamburg SV in the German Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

Hamburg, the visitors, took a lead in first-half added-time through Dutchman Rafael van der Vaart but Augsburg staged a strong second-half performance to equalise and eventually win the tie at the SGL Arena.

Turkish international Halil had pecked the scoring five minutes into the second-half before Baba marshalled the lines and helped Augsburg establish a lead in the game.

It was a mark of exemplary vision and pace from the Ghanaian who cut into the box and weighed in a cross for Raul Bobadilla who clinically finished off the move in the 60th minute.

Eight minutes later, Augsburg killed off any Hamburg possible challenge with Paul Verhaegh scoring from a penalty.

Baba has been making massive in-roads in the German top-flight this season and is rated one of the best young players in the league.

The assist is his third of the season for Augsburg who have now climbed fourth on the Bundesliga section.
