Baba Rahman denies rejecting Ghana U23 call up

Manager of Baba Abdul Rahman, Kurt Okraku has denied reports the defender has rejected a call up into the Ghana U23 team for the 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers.

The Augsburg player is reported to have turned down an invitation to join the Black Meteors for the return leg game against Congo this weekend.

Rahman is one of the regular Black Stars players who fall within the age bracket to compete for Ghana at the U23 level.

He is one of such players penciled down to boost the team before the return leg game in Congo.

But reports broke on Thursday that the left-back who has been linked to a move to English giants Chelsea has rejected a call up into the Black Meteors.

But the player’s manager Kurt Okraku in a Facebook post denied these reports – describing them as lies.

“I hate to read falsehood, especially when it tarnishes a hard earned reputation.

Baba Abdul Rahman did not and has not received any invitation to play for the national u 23 team the Black Meteors,” Okraku’s post narrated.

“Therefore the poor young man has never said he will not represent his country. Baba has always been a dedicated servant of the nation and will never turn his back on Ghana.

“For any journalist to write that Baba has turned down a request to play for the national U23 is PURE FALSHOOD.

“The FA knows how it invites players to the national team and Baba will ALWAYS Respond positively at ANY chance to play for Ghana at any level so long as he is not injured and gets the permission of his club.”
