Azumah Nelson Complex to get facelift

A massive renovation exercise will soon hit the Azumah Nelson Complex at Kaneshie, Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah has said.

At a Sports Fund Consultative Forum few days ago, the Minister mentioned that plans are in place to give the facility a touch to befit the boxing legend’s (Azumah Nelson) status.

The Minister said “We are going to transform the Azumah Nelson Complex to a modern facility which can host other national teams.’

He added “This is one of the legacy projects we want to leave for Ghana. Plans are in place and we will hit the ground running soon.”

The sports facility which in the past served as a platform for games for schools particularly in the capital has offices, a football pitch, tennis court, a volley ball court etc, but has been abandoned for years, and has seen no renovation.

Meanwhile, all being equal, the Sports Fund would be put into action in the next six to seven months.
