Ayew dismisses suggestions of rift

Andre Dede Ayew has dismissed suggestions he is feuding with several members of the Black Stars squad and is confident Ghana will eventually win the long elusive Nations Cup title.

Ayew was one of the few players to emerge from the competition in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea with his reputation enhanced, but there have been suggestions in the local media that he does not get on well with several of his teammates.

He has flatly denied that, especially concerning his relationship with midfielder Anthony Annan, and says the whole squad was united by a desire to end Ghana's trophy wait.

“You get into a competition with a lot of desire and ambition," Ayew said. "We really wanted to bring the cup to Ghana but we did not do what we had to do on the pitch which was to take our chances. We are very disappointed. We are going to erase the mistakes; we are going to move forward to make the nation proud."

And Ayew is hoping they can continue to get the backing and support of Ghanaians.

“I hope Ghanaians will continue to support us and hope that in the next matches we can make the nation proud.”

Ghana's next international is a friendly against Chile in New Jersey, USA on February 29th 2012, before they begin their 2012 World Cup qualifiers on June3 with a home a tie against Lesotho and an away trip to new African champions Zambia the following week.
