Ayew among Klopp's top transfer targets for Liverpool

New Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made Swansea forward Andre Ayew one of his top transfer targets, sources have told ESPN FC.

Klopp is a big admirer of Ayew and twice tried to sign him when he was in charge of Borussia Dortmund.

He failed to lure Ghana international Ayew to Germany, but he could move for him again at Liverpool.

Klopp, who was named as Brendan Rodgers' replacement on Thursday, admitted at his unveiling that he would work with Liverpool's infamous transfer committee, but that he would have the "the first and the last word on transfers."

Ayew has been one of the stars of the season in the Premier League so far following his free transfer arrival from Marseille.

Astute Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins moved quickly to sign Ayew ahead of a number of clubs in the summer and the Ghanian has repaid him with a number of outstanding displays since his move to the Liberty Stadium.

The 25-year-old, who has been nominated on the 59-man list for this year's Ballon d'Or, has scored four goals for Swansea, including impressive strikes against Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Ayew was named as the Premier League Player of the Month for August and his instant impact in England has made some of Europe's top club's sit up and take notice.

Swansea would be loath to lose Ayew after working so hard to sign him in the first place, but they could find their resolve tested if Klopp firms up his interest in the player in the New Year.
