Ayew: Africa will better 2010 World Cup feat

Ghana winger Andre Ayew has predicted that more than one African country will get to the next stage of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

Ghana was the only African side to qualify out of the group stages in the last two editions, but the Marseille talisman is certain the number will increase this term in Brazil.

“It was difficult, but it was also big time. Hopefully, this year there will be many more African teams in the second round,” Ayew told Le Phoceen. “I will approach the World Cup with more maturity, confidence, and certainty. We acknowledge that fact that we are in the group of death.”

Ghana will play against the United States on the night of Monday, June 16 and subsequently against Germany and Portugal.

Ayew who was nominated for the young player of the tournament in the South Africa edition will be vital in the setup of Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.
