Ex-Asante Kotoko defender, Awal Mohammed says government decision to halt footballing activities is affecting the local players and has issued a plea to the authority to reconsider their stance on the matter.

Mohammed, 30, believes football brings the people together as a source of entertainment and the government of Ghana must act to bring back the joy and smiles to Ghanaians.

The former Maritzburg United centre-back has revealed that the decision is creating problems for everyone and has called on the government to rescind their decision.

“Football entertains us as Ghanaians. Even though there are other things, football is what takes us far,” Awal said in an interview with 442.com

“There is the need for us to appreciate what football can do. Now that football activities have been halted, what do they expect footballers to do?” he quizzed.

“We only have to plead to those in authority to reconsider their stance on the matter and allow the game to start again. It is creating worrying problems,” he concluded.
