Accra Hearts of Oak U-20 side Auroras tasted a first defeat in the 2016 Greater Accra Regional Division 2 Zone 3 league by succumbing to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Inter Allies FC’s junior side, Accra Youth, at the La Town Park on Wednesday.

Samuel Bekoe and Appiah Bosomprah scored in either half to force Auroras to taste their first defeat of the campaign after three match days.

It was a day to forget for coach Stephen Abugri’s side, who were second best in all departments of the game and had no answer to Accra Youth’s superiority.

But the Auroras players will have to quickly forget about the defeat as another game awaits them at home on Friday.

Coach Abugri made a single change to the side that drew with Desert Warriors last Friday. Goalkeeper Kingsley Kofi Kissi was handed the nod in goal with Richard Mantey dropping to the bench.

The visitors started a bit brightly in the opening exchanges but they slowly lost territory and possession to Accra Youth.

Samuel Bekoe opened the scoring three minutes to the 20th minute with a well executed free-kick, but the visitors could not respond right after going behind.

Auroras failed to glitter against the joint-league leaders and they were lucky to maintain the score till the end of the first half.

But Accra Youth did not waste time to put the game to bed when they doubled the score in the early stages of the second half. The Auroras defenders had looked to the assistant referee for the flag, but they were taught a hard lesson in playing to the whistle, as Appiah Bosomprah wheeled away to beat Kissi for the second goal.

The Hearts U-20 side lost the game and will be missing two players, Reuben Tetteh and Mitchel Sarpong, who got injured as they fell to their first defeat of the new campaign.

Auroras have another chance to bounce back with a home fixture against Westland FC on Friday.
