Attiku denies Cyprus move and seeks Ghana return

Former Ghana youth international Ibrahim Attiku has denied that he is on the verge of moving to Cyprus.

The 25-year-old says he is seeking a return to the Ghana national team and wants to play in the top leagues of Europe.

The Sweden-based player was last week linked with a move to Uefa Cup campaigners AEL Limassol.

But the midfielder, who is now a free agent after opting not to extend his contract with Swedish club Sylvia, says he wants a move to the top leagues of Europe.

"I have not discussed any move to Cyprus and with no disrespect to the country's league I want to play in the major leagues of Europe," Attiku told Ghanasoccernet.

"I am in a terrific shape to prove a point in the top leagues in Europe.

"I am open to talk to any club in the top leagues of Europe because I want to prove a point and return to my national team," the former Manchester United trialist said.

Attiku was a key player in Ghana U-17 squad that excelled at the 1999 Fifa U-17 World Cup alongside players like Michael Essien.
