Obuasi, April 4, GNA - Obuasi Ashgold continued to maintain their firm grip on the Glo Premier League Table when they chalked a 2-1 victory over Kumasi Kessben F.C. in their 25th Week encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
Both sides went straight into attack right from the kick-off but it was Ashgold who had the upper hand and rightly took the lead in the 30th minute through Aminu Mohammed.
Kessben who came back from the recess with a well rehearsed strategy piled pressure on the home team and succeeded in levelling up the scores in the 75th minute through Ato Ghansah.
When everything seemed to be settling for a drawn game, Ashgold were awarded a penalty in the 89th minute when Theophilus Anobah in an attempt to score was brought down by defender Otuo Acheampong.
Referee Edward Biney who was right on the spot whistled for a spot-kick which Frederick Quayson converted to ensure Miners got the much needed maximum three points to maintain their lead. For the records, Kessben's Otuo Acheampong was red-carded for a second bookable offence.
