Asante Kotoko vs Bechem United - Match Preview

Asante Kotoko Asante Kotoko

After suffering heartbreak in MTN FA Cup, Asante Kotoko return to Ghana Premier League action with a clash against Bechem United at their adopted Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.

It’s been a difficult few weeks for the Porcupine Warriors and they will be hoping to get the win to appease their disturbed fans.

The league now remains the only route for Kotoko to compete in Africa next season after their shock elimination from the MTN FA Cup. They were beaten 2-1 at the round of 64 stage by second-tier side Asokwa Deportivo.

Following the elimination coupled with their uninspiring form in the league, a crisis meeting was held. Executive Chairman Dr Kwame Kyei threatened to dissolve the entire playing body if they fail to improve.

With that at the back of their minds, coach Maxwell Konadu and his boys must step up to the occasion and deliver a win.

For Bechem United, they will be eyeing another upset after knocking out Aduana Stars from the MTN FA Cup.

In the league, they are having a great time and come into this clash just a point behind Kotoko in fifth position.

Despite their troubles, Kotoko remain favourites to win this one and they are backed by head-to-head record.

They have won eight of the last 13 competitive meetings since 2011.

The Porcupine Warriors have also fared well in Accra. This season they have won all their matches played at the Accra Sports Stadium against Legon Cities FC and Asante Kotoko.
