Asante Kotoko trash Bechem United in the G6 tourney

Kumasi Asante Kotoko inflicted a 3-nil defeat on Bechem United in the first of Group B in the GHALCA G6 tournament at the Baba Yara sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko started the game on a bright note when winger Emmanuel Gyamfi broke the deadlock in the 15th minute after tapping a cross from Frank Sarfo Gyamfi into the back of the net.

The Porcupine warriors doubled their lead in the 60th minute through a header from winger Obed Owusu to deepen the woes of Bechem United.

In the dying embers of the game, a penalty was awarded to Asante Kotoko when striker Dauda Mohammed was brought down in the 18 yard-box, which was successfully converted by skipper Amos Frimpong to make it 3-0 for the home team.

And in the 86th minute, trialist Prince Acquah nearly extended the lead of Asante Kotoko but the woodwork came to the rescue of the champions of last season’s MNT FA Cup.

Emmanuel Gyamfi of Asante Kotoko was adjudged the man of the match after his impressive display.
