Organisers of the maiden John Agyekum Kuffour Cup match between Asante Kotoko and regional rivals Ashantigold SC have rescheduled the game to December 30, 2018.
Originally slated for December 2, 2018, at the Baba Yara Stadium, the duel has been postponed due to the schedules of former president J. A. Kuffour and Asante Kotoko.
The J. A. Kuffour Cup match, which is to celebrate the 80th birthday of the former President, was launched in August this year.
His Excellency J. A. Kuffour, in whose honour the annual cup game has been instituted, has other engagements outside the country around the previous date.
The nature of the game makes it necessary for J. A Kuffour to attend, and the postponement is to enable him do just that.
Director of Communications, Samuel Sarfo Duku (Esq), confirming the development to asantekotokosc.com, explained that organisers also factored in Asante Kotoko’s Africa Cup preparations.
Proceeds of the charity match, which is being organised by Primeval Media, will go to the John Agyekum Kufuor (JAK) Foundation for the developments and leadership projects under the foundation.
The J. A. Kuffour Cup will be the tiebreaker for the two Ashanti Region clubs who have scores to settle to each other, having played each other twice, in the off-season, and either side winning at home by 3-2.
