Army Corporal, John Napari vows to defeat Bukom Banku

Army Corporal, John Napari has vowed to defeat Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku on October 3 at the Accra Sports Stadium when both boxers meet.

Napari, a former national heavyweight champion, last posted a unanimous points victory over Ray Acquaye Junior two years ago. However, he mentioned that his long absence in the ring had made him hungrier and sharper.

Interestingly, 31-year-old Napari is undefeated in 18 bouts with 13 knockouts and has vowed to put paid to Banku’s unbeaten run.

“I have been training every day waiting this day; I have always heard about Banku this, Banku that, and no one can defeat him, but on October 3 he will meet his match,” he mentioned.

He noted that “Banku has never fought before and what he does is not boxing; I will teach him what real boxing is and stop his comics in the ring,” the stoutly built military officer who trains with Panois Boxing Club at James Town added.

His manager, Solomon Otu Lartey, aka Otu Mongolia, said his boxer was much prepared for the bout, and questioned the readiness and eagerness of the camp of Banku for the fight.

“I think they are afraid; they keep postponing the signing of the contract and we keep chasing them to sign,” he stressed.

But the promoter, McDon Multimedia, affirmed that both boxers would put pen to paper on August 11 at the Accra Stadium.

Bukom Banku, months after shutting up loud-mouth Ayittey Powers, seems to have his near invisibility challenged by the determined soldier.

But Banku has also mentioned that Napari’s tantrums and status as a soldier would only buoy him to make mince meat of him.

“This soldier man doesn’t know that the police are in control in Ghana? I will teach him the power of the police. If he is a soldier, I am a policeman and the fight will be between the police and soldier,” he boasted.
