Appoint new assistant coach for Black Stars

Accra, Oct 11, GNA - Mr Dan Aseidu Asare, Chief Executive of Sportnet Ghana Limited, dealers in sports wares has called for the appointment of a new assistant coach for the Black Stars since coach Silas Tetteh has been there for too long.

Mr Aseidu Asare, said the present coach had benefited enough from the technical expertise of the various foreign coaches who had coached the Black Stars, hence the need to pave way for another coach to enrich his curriculum vitae and exposure.

According to Mr Aseidu Asare, his suggestion was not a personal attack but a way of ensuring that all local coaches, especially the young ones, benefited from the experience of expatriate coaches. He said there were other young coaches in the system, who need similar exposure, to enable the development of soccer in the country.

Mr Aseidu Asare said, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should consider giving Abdul Razak, former coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko the job of the assistant coach.

The Sportnet boss, owner of now defunct Sportnet Football club said, having gathered a lot of experienced, it's time for coach Tetteh to be given one of the junior national teams to test his competence as well as boost his confidence.

"This is the only way coach Tetteh can be groomed to take up the national team on full time basis."

He added, "Limiting him to the present position would not be beneficial to the nation because, his expertise is much needed elsewhere."

Coach Tetteh has acted as the assistant coach of the national team since the era of Millan Zivadinovic and has served under coaches like Mariano Barreto, Ratomir Dujkovic and presently, he is assisting Frenchman, Claude Le Roy.

Coach Tetteh, until the appointment of Le Roy was the stand in coach for the Stars, after the departure of Dujkovic and he supervised the team to a 2-0 win over world cup participants Togo in an international friendly match last month.
