Appiah: Ghana wanted the win

Ghana Coach Akwasi Appiah felt disappointed at only getting a draw in their 2-2 thriller with Germany.

The Black Stars had fought back from a goal down to lead in Fortaleza, but were pegged back by a record-breaking Miroslav Klose strike.

“Our boys did well matching them,” Appiah told BBC Sport.

“We had a lot of chances but we didn’t take advantage of them. It’s unfortunate that it ended this way. It was a very good game.”

This leaves Germany top of Group G with four points, while USA (three points) and Portugal (zero) go head-to-head on Sunday.

“Portugal are a very good team. But so are USA – we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.”
