Anthony Baffoe: Fans must serve as our security to check hooliganism

FIFA General Coordinator Anthony Baffoe has called on football fans to be their own security during matches to check hooliganism.

According to him, since our football centers do not have Control Rooms, fans must report and/or arrest their own colleague who will perpetrate acts of hooliganism to mitigate the situation.

“We must act. We must not wait for a police officer to do that. We must be our own police. When someone does that at the stadium, we must be ready to act and lock the person down.

“When that happens, it will deter others from doing same. But if we watch on, we are not fighting it,” Anthony Baffoe noted.

Acts of hooliganism have suddenly engulfed our leagues with games and visiting teams becoming victims of violent acts.

Hearts of Oak recently served a two-match empty stadium ban following their fans violent behavior during their clash with Wa All Stars.

Bibiani Gold Stars and some Division One clubs, as well as National Women's League clubs, have also suffered a similar fate.
