Anderlecht await Acheampong's injury status

Belgian giants Anderlecht are awaiting the prognosis of the injury suffered by their winger Frank Acheampong while on international duty with Ghana.

The 22-year-old picked up what appears a serious injury after setting his country off with the opening goal in their 3-1 win over Mozambique in a 2017 Nations Cup qualifier on Thursday.

The in-form winger was stretchered off at half-time and did not recover to play a part in the return leg in Maputo on Sunday.

Anderlecht will be keen to know the extent of damage suffered by their in-form star ahead of the remaining matches in the Belgian top-flight.

Acheampong has been at the centre of an explosive run by Anderlecht this season with his potential absence expected to be a hammer blow for the side.
