Amos Korblah aims to win 2015 Gold Fields PGA championship

The most decorated professional golfer in Ghana, Amos Korblah is confident he can win next month's Gold Fields Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) of Ghana championships to be played at the Damang Golf Course in the Western region.
A total prize money of GHc 125,000 is at stake in this year's championship with the winner expected to take home GHc 25,000 making it the richest golf tournament in Ghana.
And the evergreen golfer Korblah, believes he has what it takes to he emerge triumphant in this competition which come off from Wednesday, December 2 to Saturday, December 5.
About 50 golfers from Ghana and across the West African sub region are expected to participate in the second edition of this event but Korblah is not worried by this challenge believing that he will be ready for this face-off.
"I am very positive about my chances in this upcoming event and despite the expected challenges, i believe my game will be right there at the top when it ends on December 5," he said in an interview ahead of the competition.
With players coming from Nigeria, Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Gabon, Senegal, Sierra Leone and the Ivory Coast to compete in this year's event, winning the ultimate will be a big task and this the Ghana ace is aware of.
"I am happy that we will be having players coming from other African countries to participate in this competition as this will add to the excitement. However, this will challenge me to raise my game and this I am determined to do to prove my mettle," he said.
The Damang Golf Course is one of the most challenging and demanding in Ghana and will make keeping scores low a tough one. "This is the nature of our sport and the many obstacles you can overcome will lead you to victory and this is what will urge me on to go for the ultimate," he stated.
Amos Korblah has won numerous titles in Ghana including the Ghana Open and is also the first African to win the Nigerian Open, a competition that had been dominated by foreigners including the celebrated Nick Faldo and Vijay Sighn.
He has also won the Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Senegal Gambia and Liberia Open tournaments in an illustrious career that has spanned over two decades.
The 2015 Gold Fields PGA championship is being organized under the auspices of the PGA Ghana with mining firm Gold Fields Ghana as the headline sponsor of this competition for the second year running.
The event also includes a two-day 36-Hole invitational amateur competition with some of the best in this category in Ghana expected to challenge for honours.
Other sponsors for this year’s championship include Connell Mining Products and Services, Real Mining Supply, Stellar and ESCO South Africa.
