American Boxing Equipment Supplier Sponsors African Olympic Team

ALLENTOWN PA; June 14, 2000 - Balazs Inc., designer and manufacturer of boxing and martial arts equipment, has agreed to outfit the Black Bombers-Ghana's national amateur boxing team.

The Black Bombers have a busy schedule ahead of them. This July, they will square off against their US Olympic counterparts in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Indiana Black Expo has invited the Black Bombers to compete in an annual amateur boxing event, which is in its 30th year. The team will be the first African country to ever compete in this two-nation amateur boxing championship.

The Chairman of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), Colonel J. E. Sharpe, says the Black Bombers have been training feverishly in preparation for the competition. He also stated that the event would be great exposure for the athletes who will go on to the 2000 Olympic games. This September, five of the Black Bombers will be among the thousands representing their country in competition for the gold medal in Sydney, Australia.

To equip the Black Bombers for their upcoming competitions, Balazs Inc. has provided all training and competition gear including punch mitts and body shields, skip ropes and headgear, hand wraps and boxing gloves. The team will train in tank tops and shorts bearing the Balazs logo.

Balazs has also donated a full line of ring apparel to the team. The Black Bombers will enter the ring wearing yellow, red and green (Ghana's national colors) trunks and robes, and they'll knock out their less-equipped opponents using Balazs' Universal boxing gloves. In addition, coaches and managers of the athletes will sport beautifully finished satin corner men's jackets.
