The 4th Africa Paracycling championships pedals off this weekend in Accra as Ghana and other participating nations seek to accrue precious points which will be a factor in the qualification processes to the London 2012 Paralympics.
ALL SPORTS can disclose that South Africa, Burkina Faso and Albania have confirmed their participation and were expected in the country last night ahead of the two day tournament.
The event will be centered on the Nima – Kanda Highway, specifically a circuit through Rugga roundabout (before Kawukudi junction) through the Nima highway to the Ridge –Electoral Commission roundabout and back to the starting point around the Czech Embassy. The entire stretch of road will be closed during the event on the two competition days of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of December, 2011.
The Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) are championing team Ghana’s preparation for the championships with a pledge to make next year’s Olympics. The GCF have already been assured of government support and are themselves also congratulating the Motto Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service for their preparedness in this regard.
