All set for GABF Congress

Under the supervision of the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Professor Francis Doodo, the Ghana Amateur Federation is inching closer to elections.

A three-member committee set up by the GABF stakeholders last Friday scrutinized candidates for the upcoming elections of officers of the local amateur governing body.

The vetting committee made up of National boxing coach, Ofori Asare, ex-boxer Charles Quartey, and Andrews Fenuku a boxing judge; was proposed and elected by the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation.

The meeting between the GABF and the GOC became necessary after the world boxing governing body, AIBA, prevented the GABF’s congress from taking place last year citing government inference in the electoral process.

The GOC president, Professor Francis Dodoo was thereafter mandated by AIBA to supervise the process, leading to the GABF’s upcoming congress.
