Alhaji Raji wants fresh challenge; explains NO re-election

Alhaji Ali Raji - GHALCA President Alhaji Ali Raji - GHALCA President

Alhaji Raji Ali says his decision not to seek re-election as chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association is because he wants a fresh challenge.

This leaves former Administrative Manager Kudjoe Fianoo, incumbent GHALCA vice-chairman Isaac Koomson, Kofi Poku, an executive member and Nana Sarfo Oduro in the race for the top job.

GHALCA’s executive elections will be held on 21 April 21.

Raji picked up a nomination form but dropped the idea at the eleventh hour.

“Six years is enough; I want to move on to seek fresh challenges elsewhere,” Raji said in an interview with the Graphic Sports.

“In football there are a lot of things one can do, so I want to leave the scene and let other people continue.

“I knew from day one that I wasn’t going to contest, but picked the form to take people’s mind from suspecting any such move.”

He added that: “I want to leave that to the conscience of the delegates. But they must look for somebody who can think on his feet, face challenges and also perform.”

Raji succeeded Emmanuel Adotey in a two-year interim capacity in 2010 before being elected for a full four-year term.
