Midfielder Alfred Duncan has escaped a lengthy suspension despite booked and then shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Sunday in Sassuolo’s 1-1 draw at SPAL.
The Ghana international was a 62nd minute substitute for Filip Djuricic and gone sent off at the death of the game.
Duncan got booked for a late tackle, then a few minutes later lunge studs-up on Simone Missiroli’s ankle for a second yellow card.
The referee viewed it again on VAR and opted for a straight red.
Sassuolo were expecting a stronger punishment but Duncan has been given one-match ban.
This means he will unavailable for selection for Saturday’s clash against AC Milan.
