Akunnor beats down Pre-season expectations

Hearts of Oak coach C.K Akunnor as whittled down expectations of his team for the coming season.

The former Ghana captain has just returned from a two-week coaching attachment with German club Nurenberg to preside over his team’s pre-season activities.

And with expectations rising especially with rivals Asante Kotoko capturing last season’s Premier League crown ahead of the start of the new campaign, Akunnor is rather extremely modest in his pre-season prediction.

“To be honest with you the team is quite behind and therefore talk of a top four finish is…but we will try and do something,” he said.

“Hearts of Oak is a big club and always want to challenge for titles so we we should be ready.

“We should be, if other teams will be ready (for the season) why shouldn’t we be?”

Hearts are expected to begin intensive pre-season activities next week at a yet to be disclosed location.
