The Ghana football liaison team member praises the Fire Boys for Wednesday's triumph in the continental inter-club competition

Member of Ghana's two-man liaison team for football Francis Oti Akenteng says Aduana Stars deserve applause for beating Congolese side AS Vita Club in the Caf Confederation Cup on Wednesday despite the current impasse of the sport in the country.

The Fire Boys handed The Black Dolphins a 2-1 defeat in a group stage matchday three fixture in Dormaa, with goals from Bright Adjei and Yahaya Mohammed.

Their victory has won praise particularly for reasons that Kenichi Yatsuhashi's outfit had been competitively inactive for five weeks due to a standing ban on local football matches and competitions, including the Ghana Premier League.

“I think it [Aduana's performance] was not bad considering where the team is coming from," Akenteng told Happy FM.

"We are not playing a league in Ghana, so for the team to put up such performance, they need to be commended.

“In all, it was a great game. Aduana got two early goals which helped them.

"Their problem was stamina because we are not playing any active football - their stamina was down.

"Maybe they have to train more, hopefully, twice a day depending on their schedule."

They return to action on July 29 when they travel to Congo for the second leg of midweek's game.
