Asante Kotoko have removed Akakpo Patron as assistant coach of the club, according to KickGh.

The NC Special Competition Tier I winners have parted ways with head coach Charles Akonnor though the club have disputed the media reports.

Akonnor insisted on working with the former WAFA trainer when he was offered a new assistant coach and now he has been axed along with the former Kotoko player.

Akonnor with Patron led Kotoko to play in the Group Stages of last season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Ghana Sports sources have confirmed Kotoko have been in constant touch with former Black Stars No.3 Maxwell Konadu to take over the reigns.

Our checks have also confirmed that Konadu’s assistant coach is already in Kotoko and would work with him.

The former Wa All Stars, Ghana U20 and Black Stars B coach is expected to be officially named new coach of the Porcupine Warriors before end of July to prepare the team for next season’s CAF Champions League campaign.

It remains unclear who supervised the signing of goalkeeper Kwame Baah from Inter Allies.

Kotoko announced the signing of the Ghana U23 glovesman on Wednesday with details set to unfold.

Currently Kotoko have five first team goalkeepers in their fold with Felix Annan the obvious first choice.
