Ghanaian comic actor, Akabenezer has partnered with emerging football scouting platform KickNation to support the discovery of young football talents in Kumasi through an upcoming grassroots scouting tournament.
The initiative forms part of the KickNation Community First Gala, a football talent identification event scheduled to take place from April 15 to April 19, 2026, at Alignment Park, Sofo Line in Kumasi.
The tournament aims to give young footballers from across the Ashanti Region the opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of scouts, coaches, and talent recruiters. Outstanding players could be selected to join KickNation’s talent portfolio and potentially access football opportunities abroad.
Akabenezer’s involvement has sparked excitement among fans, especially after the actor appeared in a promotional commercial demonstrating impressive football skills alongside rising comedy skit creator Gruma.
His participation reflects a growing trend of Ghanaian creatives supporting grassroots football development. Actor Yaw Dabo, for example, has earned recognition for his work in academy football and youth talent development.
According to representatives of KickNation, the initiative is designed to create accessible pathways for talented players from local communities to be discovered and connected to international football opportunities.
KickNation has already begun facilitating international development pathways, recently helping two young footballers secure placements at football academies in the United Kingdom through its expanding global scouting network.
The KickNation Community First Gala is expected to attract hundreds of young players and football enthusiasts in Kumasi, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to grassroots development and providing international exposure for emerging Ghanaian football talent.
The event is powered by the Global Football Festival, an initiative focused on promoting football, youth development, and sports entertainment across Africa.
