Striker Ahmed Toure denies reports he is set to quit Asante
Kotoko, revealing to 90 MINUTES his determination to regain regular playing
time next season as well as lead their charge into the African Champions’
League.
“Of course I’m very happy and delighted that we won the
league though I didn’t play much. Football is sometimes like that, sometimes
you play, other times you don’t,” the Ivorian born hitman, who has had a torrid
few months with Kotoko, told this paper in a chat.
He added: “I’m not worried; I have to work harder to claim
my place back. Everybody wants to play Champions’ League, it offers big
opportunities and I’m looking forward to it.”
Contrary to thinly-veiled statements he made on radio that
he was not on good terms with just departed Kotoko helmsman Maxwell Konadu,
Ahmed Toure tells 90 MINUTES how much he will miss the newly appointed Black
Stars assistant coach
“It’s just sad that we had to lose Coach Maxwell (Konadu).
He was perfect for the team as he knows the players and he knows how the team
functions. A new coach will now have to study the players to know them which
will take time,” Ahmed Toure said.
The Ivorian adds: “It’s not going to be easy without Coach
Maxwell but everything will be alright, I want to assure the fans. I want the
supporters to know that I’m here for them so they shouldn’t listen to all the
rumours
and bad stuff about me. I love them so they should continue to love and support
the club and we the players on the other hand will also deliver.” Credit:
