Agusco emerges champions of athletics competition

Cape Coat, Feb. 10 GNA - Three records were broken on Friday in the Central Region Zone Three Inter-Schools and Colleges athletics competition held at the Schools and Colleges Park in Cape Coast. Millicent Abakah of Holy Child Senior High School (SHS) broke the 200 metres record in a time of 25.35 seconds to erase the old record of 26.0 seconds.
Holy Child School also shattered the 4 X 400 metres relay race in a time of 4.17 seconds against the previous record of 4.22 seconds, and again set a new record in the 4 X 100 relay in 51.4 seconds, against the previous record of 52.4 seconds.
It was, however, St Augustine's College who lifted the championship trophy when they bagged 121.5 points followed by Jukwa Secondary Technical School at the second position with 104 points, while Asuansi Technical Institute came third with 87.5 points. Mfantsipim SHS took the fourth position with 68.5 points; Oguaa Secondary Technical came sixth with 36 points; Efutu Secondary Technical placed seventh with 35.5 points; University Practice Secondary School came eighth with 29.5 points and Saltpond Methodist High School was ninth with 23.5 points while Kwegyir Aggrey Secondary came 10th with 10 points.
In the Girls division, Holy Child SHS lifted the championship trophy with 166.3 points; Wesley Girls SHS at the second position with 154 points followed them; Jukwa Secondary Technical School was third with 91.3 points while Saltpond Methodist High School came fourth with 47 points.
University Practice School placed fifth with 33 points; Mankessim Secondary Technical was sixth with 16 points while Abakrampa Secondary Technical came seventh with 14 points. Efutu Secondary Technical School took the eighth position with 10.3 points, Oguaa Secondary Technical placed ninth with nine points while Harris Secondary School came 10th with seven points. Millicent Abakah of Holy Child SHS was declared the best athlete in the Girls division whiles Francis Baah of St Augustine's College came up tops in the Boys division.
Millicent Abakah came first in the 100 metres and 200 metres races and led her school's relay quartet to win the 4 X 400 metres event. Francis Baah came first in the 1,500 and 800 metres and also led his school relay quartet to win the 4 X 400 metre race. 10 Feb. 08
