Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman Badu has revealed he nearly joined Accra Hearts of Oak during his days in the Ghana Premier League but the move was hijacked by Kumasi Asante Kotoko who he eventually played for before leaving for abroad.

Agyeman Badu who now plays in Italy was one of the hottest young prospects in the late 2000’s and was part of the 2009 world Cup winning under -20 team.

The 26 year old scored the winning penalty in what will become Africa’s only FIFA under-20 world cup trophy.

“I have been a Kotoko fan, I love Kotoko, but growing up I really admired Hearts of Oak,” the Udinese midfielder told GHone TV.

“I watched them anytime and I loved the character they showed on the pitch even though I was a Kotoko fan."

“I almost joined Hearts of Oak from Berekum Arsenal; everything was set for me to join before Kotoko came."

“I met with Vincent Odotei and everything was agreed, I went back to Kumasi to prepare myself and then Kotoko captured me, their terms was good so I had to joined them, that is how come I joined Kotoko but I almost signed for Hearts of Oak.”

Emmanuel Agyeman Badu was not part of the Black Stars team that player Ethiopia a fortnight ago and will also miss the team for the friendlies with the United States and Mexico.
