A member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Chairman of the catering sub-committee for the African Games, Emmanuel Kwesi Mantey, has stated that his team deserves commendation for the successful organization of the games.
He highlighted the challenge of providing food for approximately 33,000 athletes during the tournament without any complications, emphasizing that this achievement warrants praise.
Mantey entreated the public to recognize their efforts in avoiding any cases of food poisoning, rather than focusing on the setbacks they encountered.
“We deserve applause for feeding thousands of people per day without any food poisoning case reported,” Kwesi Mantey said, as shared by Asempa FM on X.
Despite this, the LOC has faced significant criticism regarding the funds spent on feeding the athletes, which has sparked public outcry.
The LOC clarified that the $15 million was used to feed 13,000 people, not the 5,500 initially reported.
