Ade Coker donates towards SWAG Awards Night

A renowned football Administrator, Joseph Ade Coker, has donated GH¢2,000 to the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) towards the organization of its 37th Awards Night scheduled for Saturday, June 9 at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra.

Presenting the cheque, the former Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and one-time Chairman of Accra Great Olympics FC, said the cash will go a long way in helping to solve the perennial sponsorship challenges faced by the Association in the organisation of the event.

Ade Coker, who is also the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Honorary Consul of the Belarus Republic, expressed the hope that SWAG would continue with its good work of promoting the growth of sports in the country.

Ackah Anthony, SWAG President thanked Mr. Ade Coker for his donation and support and said it would go a long way in helping in the organization of a memorable event.

Over 25 sportsmen and women drawn from several sporting disciplines will receive trophies, medals and certificates among others for their efforts in the year 2011.

The topmost award, the ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ has Andre Dede Ayew, Ajara Mohammed and Harrison Afful as competitors, with Andre Ayew, Emmanuel Agyeman Badu and Harrison Afful also vying for the 'Footballer of the Year Award'.

The Awards Gala Night will be graced by Mr. Gianni Merlo, President of the Association of International Press for Sports (AIPS), Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Clement Kofi Humado and other high profile sports personalities and dignitaries, both local and from abroad.**
