Ghana striker David Accam was racially abused during Helsingborg’s 1-0 win at Syrianka in the Swedish top flight on Sunday, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Referee Tobias Mattson did absolutely nothing when the first racist slur was made by a Syrianka fan from the terraces after the yet-to-be-capped Ghana international was fouled in the 24th minute.

The chants got even louder as the Right to Dream Academy graduate took time to get back onto his feet much to the dismay of the home fans who felt he was wasting time.

The racist chants were again at its loudest when the Ghanaian was being substituted in the 90th minute.

Accam, however, kept his cool and did not angrily react to the chants. Syrianka FC could find themselves in big trouble with the Swedish FA as Helsingborg have lodged a formal complaint to the federation.

Accam becomes the third Ghanaian within months to have suffered such a demeaning act.

Andre Ayew and Kevin-Prince Boateng have all suffered from the disgraceful syndrome.

Boateng famously walked off the pitch in protest of being racially abused in an exhibition game in January.

His act received worldwide praise with many believing it is high time FIFA takes a critical look at stamping out racism in football.
