Accam eyes European move away from MLS

Chicago Fire forward David Accam has put European clubs on alert after admitting he will relish a move back to the continent after two seasons in Major League Soccer.

The 26-year-old, who previously played in Sweden with Helsingborg, scored nine goals and provided five assists last season for Fires and was named the club's best performer in the league for second year running, having claimed the award in his first season.

“I have no regrets moving to Major League Soccer. I think I've developed well ever since I joined Fires but for now I’m in no rush [to talk about my future] because I still have a contract,” Accam told Starr FM.

“However, I will be happy to play in Europe again in the future,” he added.

Accam in another interview with Angel FM, also admitted that the Black Stars' World Cup qualifying game against Egypt on November 13 in Alexandria will be a difficult task, but insisted Ghana have the men to deliver.

“The game would be a tough one but we have lots of good players in our team and everyone wants to play in the next World Cup. All the players are serious to give everything to Ghana to win the game next month and also qualify.

“We have the chance to win the game because our players are ready and we know we can go to Alexandria and deliver,” he added.

When asked if he was disappointed with his recent bench role under Avram Grant during national assignments, he said: "Sometimes you have to respect the coach's decision. They decide which players they need for the game so, although, I am at times frustrated, it's part of the game. I am always ready to play whenever I am called upon."

Accam was on the verge of joining English Premier League side Stoke City last year but the deal fell through at the eleventh hour due to administrative issues.
