Former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars striker Karim Abdul “Golden Boy” Razak has been appointed an ambassador for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Razak earned the appointment due to his immense contribution to Black Stars team and the influential role he played in helping Ghana win the 1978 Nations Cup.

The ex-footballer who is now a coach has been mandated to help create awareness on Africa’s flagship football event.

“I am very happy for such an opportunity, I am glad CAF has recognized me and has appointed me to be an ambassador for the Cup of Nations,” he told Kumasi-based Ash FM.

“It is a big privilege for me and I will also do my best and everything I can to create awareness on the tournament in Gabon.

The ex-Ghanaian international is one of the few Ghanaians who have been able to win the Africa footballer of the year award.

He has managed Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko, AS Dragons FC de l'Ouémé and Stade Malien as a Coach.

He also played for the likes of Al Ain, Africa Sports and Arab Contractors.
