Former Asante Kotoko attacker, Abdul Safiu Fatawu has wished the team well against Hearts of Oak and most importantly, Etoile du Sahel in the President Cup and CAF Champions League respectively.

The offensive player, who is currently on loan at Trelleborgs FF in Sweden, says he is confident that, the players can defend the club’s shirt and the Ashanti Kingdom in the two games.

Kjetil Zachariassen’s squad hosts sworn rivals, Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in the President Cup on Sunday. The team will return to the Kumasi venue a week later to face Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in the first leg game of the last knockout round of the CAF Champions League.

Fatawu scored the opener for the Porcupines before the side suffered a late equaliser on the way of beating Hearts of Oak on penalties in the semi-final of the Tier One Cup.

That was before the player has won the hearts of the Kotoko faithful by emerging as the club’s top scorer in a CAF Confederation Cup campaign that saw the Porcupines draw just once in five home games.

The free-kick expert knows all about playing against Hearts of Oak and even more in the Champions League in Kumasi. He has thus encouraged the players to ‘bring them down.’

“I wish you all the best in the games against Hearts of Oak and Etoile du Sahel, ” Abdul Fatawu told Kotoko Express App from his base in Europe. “This is what we have always fought for. As you represent Asanteman in your proud Porcupine shirts, let’s once again bring them down at our backyard. This is what we are good at. Make the fans and the Ashanti Kingdom proud again. I know you can; and yes, we can. Go Kotoko; Go Fabulous!
