Mainz O5 manager Sandro Scharwz says Ghanaian youngster Abass Issah needs time to understand the difference between the Slovenian league and the Bundesliga.

The former Black Starlets captain joined the German outfit from Slovenian champions NK Olimpija on a five year deal.

But has made only one appearance after coming on as a substitute in Mainz O5's friendly win over TuS Koblenz

"Now for the first time in professional football, Issah is in the strain that comes from the intensity here, we need time and patience with him because it's a big step," says Schwarz.

"It was designed for development because Issah has a lot of potential," says Schwarz. Nevertheless, he attests to the offensive talent "daily progress".
