2023 All Africa Games: Accra, Cape Coast, Kumasi to serve as host cities

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYs) has announced that Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast will be used as host venues for the 2023 All Africa Games which Ghana has won the bid to host.

Ghana won the rights to host the 13th edition of the 2023 All Africa Games after beating Egypt to the bid.

According to information gathered by The Finder, Ghana won the bid because of the commitment shown by the Sports Ministry and government to the organizers in hosting the games.

The Halls at the University of Ghana has been earmarked as the Games Village for the All African Games.

A letter released by the Sports Ministry to announce this monumental achievement read, “The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) announced that on behalf of the government is delighted to announce that Ghana has won the rights to host the 13th edition of the African Games in 2023 after beating Egypt.

This monumental achievement was declared at the 3rd Specialized Technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports forum of the African Union Commission Ministers’ session in Algiers, Algeria on Thursday, October 25, 2018. The Ministry believes this is a unique opportunity to rewrite the scripts of Ghana sports for the next century.

The ministry is committed to providing facilities for Ghana to host a successful tournament, as the continental sports event will be staged in Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast stadia.

The Games will also serve as qualifiers for the various disciplines for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

President of the Ghana Olympic Committee Ben Nunoo Mensah in an interview with the media after the country won the right to host the event says he is hopeful Ghana will be ready to host the games in five years’ time.
