President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Ben Nunoo Mensah believes hosting the 2023 All Africa Games is an opportunity for the country to put up more sports facilities.
According to Nunoo Mensah, bidding to host 2023 All African Games had not been easy after making a final presentation to the bid committee in Algeria on October 22.
The former Saint Augustine’s College School Prefect believes, as a country we need to draw some positives from this opportunity.
“For me as the President of the GOC I am elated because one thing as a country (Ghana) we have been crying for over decades is the lack of facilities for our athletes. Therefore this is an opportunity to put up sporting infrastructures to develop talents.
“For my association with the bidding team will be getting facilities in Accra Kumasi, Cape Coast et al. This means we are going have sport facilities spread over at least four regions for talent development,” Ben Nunoo Mensah told Starr Sports
This will be the first time Ghana will be hosting the competition and will join the likes of Congo Brazzaville, Mali, Nigeria, Algeria, Kenya, Egypt, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique as the only countries to have hosted the event.
