2019/20 Ghana Premier League: Week 3 Match Preview - Asante Kotoko v Berekum Chelsea

Asante Kotoko beat Legon Cities FC 3-1 on Friday night Asante Kotoko beat Legon Cities FC 3-1 on Friday night

Asante Kotoko will be hoping to continue their impressive start to the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League when they welcome Berekum Chelsea to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Porcupines Warriors couldn't have asked for a better start to the season. They have a 100 percent record after the first two games. Kotoko recorded a slender 1-0 win against Eleven Wonders and an impressive 3-1 away win against Legon Cities FC.

They will be targeting a third victory against the Blues on Sunday.

Berekum Chelsea, on the other hand, comes into the game on the back of disappointing scoreline in the last matchday as they drew goalless with Liberty Professionals in Berekum.

The draw was unexpected considering they accounted for the biggest shock of the opening matchday by beating Hearts of Oak 1-0 in Accra. A result that shook the Phobian board to sack Kim Grant and appoint Edward Nii Odoom as interim manager.

Hence, many expected them to build on that famous win and beat Liberty.

On the back of results in the opening two games, Kotoko is firm favorites to win this. Also, history favors them as they are unbeaten in the last five encounters. Kotoko has won two with three ending in draws.

It would be interesting to see how coach Emmanuel Effah sets up against Maxwell Konadu, whose tactical know-how has been hailed in the last two games.

Prediction: Asante Kotoko 2-1 Berekum Chelsea
