The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the First Capital Plus Premier League for the 2015-16 season is likely to commence in the month of December.

The delay in the start of the ongoing season due the legal battle that went on between Kumasi King Faisal and the Ghana FA will affect next season and for the second season running the Ghana Premier League’s calendar will not synchronise with that of the European leagues.

The current season will come to a close on September 13 and according to the GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi the start of 2015-16 season is tentatively fixed in the month of December.

“The Ghana Premier League comes to a close next week and we are hoping to commence next season in the month of December,” he told Angel FM.

Nyantakyi reiterated that the Coach of the Black Stars, Avram Grant is expected to pay more attention to the local league next season.

“This season Avram didn’t monitor the local league the way we wanted him to, but next season he will intensify the monitoring of the league,” the GFA boss added.

The Ghana Premier League enters its final day on Sunday, but Ashanti Gold have already emerged champions, after beating WAFA by a goal to nil in the penultimate fixture to win their first league title in 19 years.
