2012 Best Cyclist presents trophy to MCE of Ga East Assembly

Henry Tetteh-Djangmah, the 2012 champion of the National Cowbell Cycling Tour of Ghana on Monday presented his trophy to Mr. John Kwao Sackey, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ga East Municipal Assembly in Accra.

The national best cyclist who is also the defending champion of the 2011 Cowbell Cycling Tour is a member of the Die Hard Cycling Club, which is based in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The two-weeks National Cowbell Cycling Tour of Ghana took the original 72 cyclists from 12 Cycling Clubs on 11 Stages through eight Regions of the country, from the Greater Accra through the Central, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern, Eastern, Volta and back to the finishing point at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

Mr. Sackey pledged the Ga East Municipal Assembly's readiness to support the effort of the Die Hard Cycling Club to win more laurels and trophy's and appealed to members of the Club to be dedicated and assist in the development of their communities.

He said since it is the Club's quest to promote peace and unity among the people of Ga East through cycling, he urged them to participate in communal labour and educate the people on the need to participate and contribute to the development of their communities.

Mr. Sackey noted that cycling was a major form of exercise which can strengthen and keep the people fit and guide them against diseases. He advised Ghanaians to consider engaging in the promotion of cycling in the country.

He assured the Club of the Assembly's support to strengthen its capacity in the development of cycling, especially among the youth and for the promotion of peace in the Ga East.

Tetteh-Djangmah thanked the MCE for the advice and promised to use cycling to promote peace in the Municipality and appealed to the people to support and encourage the effort of the Die Hard Cycling Club to continue to excel.

The Cowbell National Cycling Tour of Ghana was organised by the Ghana Cycling Federation with support from Promasidor Ghana Limited, producers of Cowbell products, BIC, Pens and Plastics, TV3, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Authority, MTTU of Ghana Police Service and Multimedia Group.**
